Modern Molding Acquires New Machines to Better Serve Our Customers
While many plastic injection molders and tool makers have been cutting back over the last few years, Modern Molding continues to grow. We are proud that we have added over $1,200,000 in new equipment to our facility. A CNC/EDM machine, a CNC Machining Center, a Wire EDM machine, and a High Speed CNC Machining Center were added to our tool room, and five new presses to the production floor.
New CNC/EDM Machine
Our tool room boasts a new CNC/EDM machine, an Edge2 2000 series from Makino. The machine is already contributing to even quicker turnaround for molds and helping to make a more accurate and higher quality tool.
New Electric Presses
We added two electric presses: a new Toshiba EC45 and a new Toshiba EC65 to our production floor. The new EC Series all-electric injection molding machines from Toshiba provide Modern Molding with an even higher level of dimensional accuracy and part repeatability than we’ve seen before. They also offer very valuable operating efficiencies adding to productivity and part quality, which result in better service to our customers.
New Hydraulic Presses
We have added three new hydraulic presses. These new machines, a 120 ton, a 150 ton and a 250 ton presses are state-of-the-art. We have come to expect a lot from our Toshiba presses - very consistent part quality, six sigma productivity, easy setup, and precise process control. These machines help to contribute to lower part costs, reduced scrap and have a positive impact on on-time delivery.
New Makino V33 High Speed Mill
The new Makino V33 (January 2007 arrival) will decrease our tool lead time with up to 8 times as fast cutting ability. Tools machined in this center will require less fitting, which further reduces labor required to make the tool.
New Makino SP43 Wire EDM
Our new Makino Wire EDM machine will help us to reduce tooling lead time and decrease our dependency on outside resources. Our tool designers are excited because Wire EDM increases the design possibilities for each tool we manufacture.
New Hurco VM1 Machining Center
This best in class machine and
controls is a true 6,000 lb. machining center built around a solid frame and
state-of-the-art controls. It has an 8,000 rpm spindle and a 16-station Swing
Arm Automatic Tool Changer for faster throughput. The machine allows us to save
programming time through floor programming with Hurco’s Conversational and NC
programming in a single screen UltiMax® control.
