Modern
Molding's in-house tooling department helps us to control the quality of the
parts we make. Maintenance and troubleshooting on a tool can be done
immediately, causing no disruption to production.
Tool room equipment is
state-of-the-art and is updated on a
regular basis. We are able to accept a number of different types of
electronic part design files.
Our tool room is staffed by 5 toolmakers with an average of 15 years of experience each. We make about ninety percent of our tooling in-house. We have full capabilities in machining, electron discharge machining, grinding and set-work. Texturing and wire EDM are outsourced.
Electron
discharge machining is used to burn intricate details into the tool steel.
Modern Molding's new Makino CNC EDM has a multiple tool-changer that allows for
multiple burns over longer periods of time. This feature helps to improve
tool room lead time with a faster turnaround.
